Error 33203 – The mark for starting a translation unit is missing or damaged.

This error can appear while you are translating or carrying out batch operations with Analyse, Translate or Clean Up features. It means that one or more of the marks (delimiters) SDL Trados uses to delimit the units at the beginning of a certain translation unit has been deleted or is incomplete.

How to solve it:

If this happens while you are translating, check the beginning of the segment (activate "see hidden text") to verify that it has the delimiting mark. If it's been deleted or broken, you need to copy starting delimiter from a previous unit and paste it in its place, in this way Translator's Workbench will be able to recognize and process that translation unit.

If this error appears while carrying out batch operations, Translator's Workbench will not stop the operation, but it will indicate this error in its logfile. After finishing the operaton, if you open the document you will find a bright green arrow where the delimiter is missing or broken. You can fix the issue as described above and run the batch process again, or you can manually delete the source language, the delimiters and the green arrow (with "see hidden text" activated).
