Glocalization –A ‘Domestic approach’ for going ‘Internationa

The boost in entrepreneurial opportunities led people to start off their own businesses. What was needed was a product/service, a carefully selected target market and a preliminary distribution channel. These three ingredients in a carefully selected quantity were enough to generate sufficient profits, but now this recipe is quite out-dated. Today, the competitive business environment doesn’t really allow specks of ethnocentrism. It needs businesses to pursue new markets in different countries with separate culture and indigenous backgrounds.

Nowadays, many companies are coming up with country-specific products/services in an effort to enter into international markets, often by simply translating their existing offerings. Unfortunately, this isn’t good enough in most cases, sometimes it can even lead to an offensive attitude.

Companies need to remember that there is a difference between translation and localization. Localization involves a complete conversion of existing communications including sales copy, marketing messages, content and call to action into a tone of voice that is applicable and acceptable to the target region, while preserving the brand integrity. In other words, companies need to ‘Glocalize’ themselves in order to become more culturally and ethnically adapted. McDonalds, a well-known food chain, has found a way to ‘glocalize’ its brand without losing its integrity. It makes changes to its menus depending on the region in order to appeal to the local culture: in Holland, you’ll be given the option of fritesaus over mayonnaise, in Canada the fries can be substituted by the locally-inspired Poutine and in India the incredible and juicy-looking ‘Maharaja Mac’takes the place of a Big-Mac.

Coming to the conclusion – Companies using the ‘glocalization’ approach tend to be more successful in an international market. Along with localizing the communications, products or services they also have a tendency to engage with their audience on a local level. It is important to speak to them locally as well!

Hi Ivan, the only help you I can give you is the following:

I've found the following:
so-called desiccocytes—shrunken erythrocytes

Also:
Iopromide causes deformation of erythrocytes to desiccocytes only at much higher concentrations than metrizamide

So I have tried with other spellings and I have found that "discocyte" is a a mature normal erythrocyte, exhibiting one of many steady-state configurations, such as a biconcave disk without a nucleus

So I guess that it is a misspelling
